Clean fuel subsidies proposed to address commuter woes
Crackdown on jeeps will affect only 7% of vehicular pollution in Metro Manila
Environmental activist group Kalikasan People’s Network for the Environment (Kalikasan PNE) bucked the Inter-Agency Council on Traffic (I-ACT) for the disruption of the economic activities of millions of commuters and drivers because of its ‘Tanggal Bulok, Tanggal Usok’ operations on jeepneys, urging them to provide clean fuel subsidies to jeep fleets to immediately address commuter woes.

With 41 land and environment-related killings recorded in 2017, the Philippines was declared the second deadliest country for land and environmental defenders in the world and deadliest in Asia in the recent exclusive released by international advocacy group Global Witness together with the British daily The Guardian.

Green group expects no coal cuts, only power rate hikes from TRAIN coal tax
Environmental group Kalikasan People’s Network for the Environment (Kalikasan PNE) warned that the excise tax on coal under the recently ratified Tax Reform for Acceleration and Inclusion (TRAIN) or RA 10934 will not reduce coal consumption by companies because of the country’s power privatization policy.

Over 100 NGOs raise concern over plight of environmental defenders in PH
Declaring “it is not a crime to defend the environment,” a total of 109 non-government organizations, social movements, and other environmental groups came out with a unified statement raising concern over the worsening human rights situation faced by environmental defenders in the Philippines, rated as the third deadliest country in the world and deadliest in Asia in the 2017 Global Witness Report on Killings of Environmental and Land Defenders.
